Benigoi (BEN-ee-goy): While the Benigoi koi fish may look like a large goldfish at first glance, this popular koi fish variety is anything but. Benigoi koi fish are non-metallic and feature a fiery red or orange coloring. Most commonly the Benigoi koi fish is entirely orange or red although some do have fins that are tipped with white. Benigoi koi fish with white tipped fins are known as Aka Hajiro.While the Benigoi koi fish is typically confused with the Higoi koi fish, another popular breed, the Benigoi offers a more enhanced red coloring than the more simply colored red Higoi.

The Benigoi koi fish has a Kohaku lineage and is most commonly produced through Kohaku spawnings.
